A Subaru engine is the ideal replacement for a Wasserboxer engine. More reliable,
easier to obtain and less expensive replacement parts, more power (130hp vs. 84-91hp), and less expensive overall.
While some people prefer the EJ25 or EG33 engines, we highly recommend the EJ22 SOHC engines because of their extreme reliability,
availability and cost differential. In California, the '90-94 EJ22 is the only model smog approved.
