* Why can't
I order directly from your site?
Because there are many specifics related to each engine, we need
to ask you questions to be sure you get the exact engine you need to fit your car. Plus, we like having direct contact
with our customers!
* Do I have to send you my old engine first?
On rare occasions or rare engines, this may be necessary.
Most of the time, we already have all parts we need to build any engine.
* What do I have to swap over from my old
engine?
Your
intake manifold, hoses, front pulley, flywheel, motor mounts, alternator, power steering and any other accessory items.
Older engines would include carburetor, distributor. You do NOT have to swap water pump, oil pump, timing components,
oil pan or valve covers: these are all included with your engine.
* How are engines shipped?
In the continental USA, we use LTL Truck freight. Engines are either palleted or crated. Transit
times vary depending on location.
* How fast can I get my
engine?
All
of our engines are built to special order. Therefore, depending on how complicated the engine and the availability
of parts, build time can be as little as 3 days or as long as 3 weeks. We will advise you at time of order or inquiry.
Shipping takes 1-5 business days depending on destination. Overseas, Alaska and Hawaii are air freighted.
* Do you bore the blocks?
No. In our experience, Subaru blocks should never
be bored due to lessened abililty to dissipate heat from friction, resulting in lessened reliability.
Since we sell most of our engines on an exchange basis, we always have many engine
cases to choose from: any that do not meet factory specifications become scrap metal and are recycled. The same
goes for cams, rods, etc. All parts are measured with a micrometer to make sure they meet original factory specs.
We do have our cranks turned: if they will not turn ".10/.10" we consider them junk cranks and recycle
that metal also.
* Do you accept credit cards?
Yes. We gladly accept Visa, Mastercard, American Express and Discover. We also accept
personal and company checks. (There may be up to a 10 day waiting period for checks to clear our bank.)
* Do you have payment plans or financing?
We
do not offer financing at this time. However, we will consider payment plans. Also, you can use Paypal which
has the eBillme feature. Please remember that your engine will not ship until all charges are paid.
* Do I need to buy anything else?
You don't have to buy anything else, but this is the ideal time to replace hoses,
thermostat, PCV valve, clutch, AC/Alternator belts and possibly radiator. If the cause of your engine failure was due
to overheating, anything that might have caused or contributed to the failure should be replaced at this time, or you may
void your warranty.
* What is a core charge,
does it apply to my engine and how is it refunded?
A core charge is a deposit to make sure we get
your old engine back or to replace the engine so that we have another to build for the next order. Core charges
are only applicable on the engines most prone to extreme damage such as 2.0 and 2.5 turbo engines.
We then disassemble
the old engine to determine what parts are salvageable. If we determine that it is not rebuildable, we will then send
you a check for a prorated amount based on how much we can salvage. NOTE: you have 60 days to get your core back
to us in order to be eligible for a refund of your deposit.
* What happens
if I have a problem under warranty?
Contact us immediately! We do not have a one-size-fits-all warranty policy. Every situation
is addressed individually.
If you have additional questions not answered here, call or email anytime. We promise to reply
as soon as possible.
